Canada Goose

The Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) is found throughout North America. It nests on the ground near water, building its nest with grass and plant material and lining it with feather down. These geese mate for life. The female typically lays a clutch of 5 to 7 eggs. Newly hatched goslings look like yellow ducklings and can swim immediately. In autumn, they migrate south as soon as the young are able, and are well known for their V-shaped migrating flocks and rich, sonorous honking.
