Anemone oregana (blue windflower) is native to
West Coast forests. This buttercup family peren-nial grows
from a thick rhizome to a height of 30 centimeters. Three
large leaflets form its single basal leaf, with occasional
leaves on the mostly bare stem. The flower is formed from 5
to 7 sepals, usually blue or purple, but sometimes red,
pink, or white. The fruit is a cluster of fluffy
achenes.
