Bull Thistle Print
$25.00
Originating in Eurasia, the Bull Thistle (cirsium vulgare) is now found throughout the North America. It invades almost any type of disturbed area, from forest clearcuts to riparian areas to pastures, where it can form dense thickets displacing other vegetation. Its sandpaper-like leaves are large and deeply lobed. Plants stems appear winged because leaf blades continue along the petioles and several inches down the stems. Flowerheads are one to two inches wide and one and a half to two and a half inches high with deep purple flowers. The bristles on the pappus (thistledown) are feathery. The bull thistle’s spiny nature renders it unpalatable to wildlife and livestock.
