The Ceanothus silkmoth, Hyalophora euryalus, is native to conifer forests and meadows of the Pacific Northwest. Typically with a wingspan over 4 inches, its striking, vibrant wings are primarily deep rust with white streaks and black eyespots. Common larval host plants include ceanothus shrubs, manzanita, alder, maple, and gooseberry. Adult moths do not have a mouth or digestive system. They will only live 1-2 weeks, and their sole purpose is to mate.
