CHERRY BLOSSOMS

Sweet Cherry (Prunus avium) blossoms have a single pistil surrounded by multiple stamen and five petals. The ovary contains two ovules. Flowers may stay open for up to 5 days. Most varieties are self-incompatible and require insects to cross-pollinate with another variety. Honey bees find the cherry flower very attractive because they are able to collect both nectar and pollen
