Pacific Tree Frog Print
$45.00
The Pacific Tree Frog (Hylla regilla) is easily identified by its prominent black eye stripe and large toe pads. Despite its name, it lives on the ground among shrubs and grass near water. Its color ranges from brown to bright emrald green and can change quickly– a function of temperature and moisture, and not to match its background. The large, sticky toe pads allow it to climb easily and cling to grass or twigs. Although small (1 to 2 inches), its loud, distinctive croak can be heard up to a half mile away on a quiet night and is popularized in movie sound tracks. This frog is mainly nocturnal, spending the day in damp recesses beneath logs, rocks, or other debris.
