Sundew

$695.00

The Round-Leaved Sundew (Drosera rotundifolia) is a small carnivorous plant with leaves arranged in a basal rosette. The upper leaf surface is covered with red glandular tentacles, each tipped with a glistening, sticky, sugary secretion that attracts and traps insects. The tentacles fold around the insect while shorter hairs on the inner leaf surface secrete a mucilage containing digestive enzymes and an anesthetic that debilitates the prey. Sundew are found in acidic wetlands in many parts North America, Europe, and Asia.
